To Fu or Not to Fu

In my practice of Feng Shui, I recommend Fu Dogs when a client is facing a challenging direction based on their year of birth, engaged in a win/lose battle or have reason to be fearful of circumstances.

Today's Fu Dogs grace the entries of homes and businesses; historically they were the original guardians of Buddhist temples. The purpose of the Fu Dogs is to block the negative intentions of those who enter. Fu Dogs look menacing. Many times they are referred to as lions, watchdogs, defenders of law or protectors from evil.

The proper placement of the Fu Dogs is important. Here are my guidelines.

  1. They should always be used in pairs - a male and a female.
  2. The male, holds a ball under foot, and is placed on the right side of the entry from the perspective of the street.
  3. The female holds a cub under foot and is placed on the left side of the entry from the perspective of the street.
  4. If used inside a home, Fu Dogs should always face the exterior, preferably a door or window.
